You must be 21 to drink in KY and you need to have a valid ID to show at the distilleries and any other drinking establishment that we visit. Most distilleries will allow underage guests to take the tour but will not participate in the tastings. Tour prices remain the same.
That’s no problem! The distilleries, their heritage, and the history are entertaining and fascinating without ever taking a sip. Tour prices remain the same. Enjoy your bourbon experience any way you want.
Closed toe shoes are recommended and comfort is key. You will be touring working distilleries and rick houses. You will be indoors and outdoors. Keep in mind that the temperatures in the rick houses are the same as the climate outside so they will be hot in the summer and cold in the winter. What’s a rick house? It's a large warehouse where distillers age their bourbon barrels for a number of years.
You can bring a small cooler with snacks and beverages. If you are over 21, you can bring alcohol on the tour and you may purchase alcohol at various stops during the tour. You can bring your cigarettes and e-cigs but you can’t smoke in the van. There will be designated smoking areas at the distilleries. You can bring a camera. Tour guides at the distilleries will let you know which parts of the tours are not allowed to be photographed. Ice and bottled water will be provided as part of your tour cost. You can consume alcohol ON the bus but it must stay there at our various stops.
Absolutely. One of our many stops can take you to Old Friends’ Farm where you can meet and pet Silver Charm (1997 Derby and Preakness winner) and two Belmont winners Sarava and Touch Gold. You can also see Popcorn Deelites who played Sea Biscuit in the 2003 movie of the same name.
No firearms of any kind are allowed. No bad attitudes either.
A valid ID showing you are 21 if you want to participate in the bourbon tastings.
The early bird catches the worm so don’t wait, secure your date. Tours sell out quickly in peak season.
Your 50% deposit is non-refundable once your date is reserved. It locks in distillery bookings, your private vehicle, and your guide, and those commitments can't be recovered if you cancel. If your plans change, contact us as early as possible - when we can rebook your date, we'll work with you on rescheduling. If BourbonTown Tours ever has to cancel your tour, such as for severe weather or distillery closures we can't route around, you receive a full refund or a new date, your choice.
Tips are always appreciated. If this is a corporate tour, we can add the tip to your overall charge prior to the tour. BourbonTown Tours also now accepts Venmo for guide tips.
To reserve your date, we ask for a 50% non-refundable deposit. This locks in your distillery times, private vehicle, and guide. The remaining balance is due the day of your tour.
