Kentucky Bourbon Tour Packages: Six Private Tour Days You Can Change
Updated November 2026 · BourbonTown Tours
Our Kentucky bourbon tour packages are Buffalo Trace Day, Buffalo Trace Grounds Day, Bardstown Day, Louisville Day, Bourbon and Thoroughbreds, and a two-day Bourbon Weekend. Each is a custom tour: $275 to $425 per person daily, plus 6% KY sales tax and a 3% booking fee. Custom tours typically run three stops, and we can add or subtract on your planning call. We build your day and book every distillery ticket. You just show up.
A package costs the same as the custom day it starts. You pick a name, press the button under it, and the quote form arrives with that package already written in.

Which Kentucky bourbon tour package fits your group?
Pick by the distillery that matters most to you, then by the city you are sleeping in. Buffalo Trace sits in Frankfort, Woodford Reserve in Versailles, and Maker's Mark in Loretto, south of Bardstown, and the drive from Maker's Mark to Buffalo Trace is well over an hour. That drive is why no package puts Bardstown and Buffalo Trace on the same day.
| Package | Stops | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| Buffalo Trace Day | Buffalo Trace tour, Woodford Reserve, plus a flex stop | Groups with a Buffalo Trace tour date |
| Buffalo Trace Grounds Day | Buffalo Trace grounds, gift shop and tasting, plus two Frankfort and Versailles stops | Buffalo Trace on any date |
| Bardstown Day | Maker's Mark, Heaven Hill, plus a flex stop | Groups based in or near Bardstown |
| Louisville Day | Three downtown Louisville distilleries | Arrival and departure days, groups staying downtown |
| Bourbon and Thoroughbreds | A morning horse farm visit, Woodford Reserve, plus a flex stop | Groups where only some guests are there for the bourbon |
| Bourbon Weekend | Bardstown Day, then a Buffalo Trace day | Groups with two days |
1. Buffalo Trace Day
For groups who want the Buffalo Trace tour itself and have a date with a tour available.
Stops:
- Buffalo Trace tour
- Woodford Reserve
- Flex stop: Castle and Key, Whiskey Thief, or another Frankfort or Versailles gem
The tour on this package is the Trace Tour, about 75 minutes among the barrels and into an aging warehouse, ending with a tasting. Allow about two hours at Buffalo Trace once check-in and the gift shop are added, so the tour slot sets the order of everything else. Woodford Reserve in Versailles is about 25 minutes away, and the flex stop sits in the same Frankfort and Versailles cluster, so the day spends its time at distilleries rather than on the road. We book the lunch table at the point in the route where it fits.
We handle the ticket.
What if Buffalo Trace tours are sold out? Buffalo Trace releases tour reservations every Wednesday at 10 AM Eastern, up to eight weeks ahead. Fall weekend dates can be gone within minutes. We book at the release for our guests. If your date is already full, you can still visit. Walk the grounds, stop at the gift shop, taste at the walk-up tasting bar and buy the bottle of the day. That's our Buffalo Trace Grounds Day, and it books on any date.
The Buffalo Trace distillery guide covers the three tours and the grounds, and the Woodford Reserve distillery guide covers the second stop.
Price: $425 per person for 2 guests down to $275 per person for 10 or more, plus 6% KY sales tax and a 3% booking fee.
2. Buffalo Trace Grounds Day
For groups who want Buffalo Trace on any date, without a tour ticket.
Stops:
- Buffalo Trace grounds, gift shop and guided tasting
- Then two of: Woodford Reserve, Castle and Key, Whiskey Thief, or another nearby gem
At Buffalo Trace your group walks the grounds, visits the gift shop and joins a guided tasting. Buffalo Trace runs walk-in guided tastings daily with no reservation, after guest check-in at the Freehouse Welcome Center, where anyone tasting or buying shows a valid ID. The gift shop is inside Warehouse A, an aging warehouse built in 1881. Guests can buy the gift shop's bottle of the day. The bottle is the guest's to buy, and we name no bottle and promise no allocated release ahead of the visit.
A grounds, tasting and gift shop stop takes 60 to 90 minutes, which leaves room for two more stops on the Frankfort and Versailles side, picked on the planning call. Distillery tickets for those two stops are included in custom tour pricing. Because nothing at Buffalo Trace depends on a tour slot, this package runs on any date Buffalo Trace is open.
Price: $425 per person for 2 guests down to $275 per person for 10 or more, plus 6% KY sales tax and a 3% booking fee.

3. Bardstown Day
For groups staying in or near Bardstown, and for anyone who wants a Bardstown bourbon tour package built around Maker's Mark.
Stops:
- Maker's Mark
- Heaven Hill
- Flex stop: Bardstown Bourbon Company, Willett, or another Bardstown-area gem
Bardstown is about 50 minutes south of Louisville. Maker's Mark sits further south in Loretto, and we allow about two hours there: between the checkout line and bottle dipping, the visit runs long. Guests can dip their own bottle in red wax, and the bottle is on the guest. Heaven Hill, Willett and Bardstown Bourbon Company sit a short drive apart in town, so the second half of the day moves quickly, and you choose the flex stop on the planning call. We book the lunch table between stops. The Maker's Mark distillery guide and the Heaven Hill distillery guide cover the first two stops, and private bourbon tours from Bardstown covers a day that starts in town.
Price: $425 per person for 2 guests down to $275 per person for 10 or more, plus 6% KY sales tax and a 3% booking fee.
4. Louisville Day
All downtown stops, almost no time in the vehicle.
Stops:
- Three of: Old Forester, Angel's Envy, Rabbit Hole and the Evan Williams Bourbon Experience
The flex is built in: we pick the three on the planning call by your date and tour times. Rabbit Hole is closed Sunday and Monday (and Tuesdays in January and February), so an early-week Louisville Day uses the other three. Short hops between stops leave more of the day for tastings and lunch, which makes this the package for arrival and departure days, for groups staying downtown, and for guests who do not want a long drive. Private bourbon tours from Louisville covers the rest of what a Louisville start can reach.
Price: $425 per person for 2 guests down to $275 per person for 10 or more, plus 6% KY sales tax and a 3% booking fee.
5. Bourbon and Thoroughbreds
For groups where not everyone is there for the bourbon.
Stops:
- Morning: a horse farm visit, always first
- Woodford Reserve
- Flex stop: Castle and Key, Whiskey Thief, or another gem
The horse farm visit has to be the first thing of the day, so the day starts there and the distilleries follow in the afternoon. Your group picks the style: mares and foals, up close with a chance to pet a horse, or a Thoroughbred farm tour where the horses are viewed from a distance. Farms offer tours at different times on different days, so the farm is chosen on the planning call by your date and the style you pick.
The farm visit is paid by the guest, the same as lunch. Our private vehicle and driver are inside the rate. In the afternoon, Woodford Reserve sits on Glenn's Creek in Versailles and has been the official bourbon of the Kentucky Derby since 1999, and the flex stop sits close by. Versailles is about 20 minutes from downtown Lexington, so a Lexington hotel makes for the shortest first drive. Kentucky horse farms and how a group gets to them covers visiting a farm, and the Woodford Reserve distillery guide covers the afternoon.
Price: $425 per person for 2 guests down to $275 per person for 10 or more, plus 6% KY sales tax and a 3% booking fee. The farm visit and lunch are paid by the guest.
6. Bourbon Weekend (2 days)
For groups with two days who want both sides of Kentucky bourbon country.
Stops:
- Day 1: the Bardstown Day (Maker's Mark, Heaven Hill, plus a flex stop)
- Day 2: the Buffalo Trace Day, or the Buffalo Trace Grounds Day if no tour ticket is available
Splitting the weekend this way keeps the long drive between Maker's Mark and Buffalo Trace out of both days. The Louisville Day can replace either day, and each day keeps its own flex stop. Each morning starts with pickup at your hotel or door, each day runs 6 to 8 hours with its own booked lunch table, and whether day two is a tour day or a grounds day depends on Buffalo Trace tour availability for your date. Lodging is not part of the price, because we do not book hotel rooms. How many days a Kentucky bourbon trip needs sets out what a third day adds.
Price: two times the daily rate, plus 6% KY sales tax and a 3% booking fee.
How do our bourbon tour packages work?
Packages are starting points, not fixed routes. Each one has fixed anchor stops and one flex stop, chosen on the planning call by your date, distillery hours and your group's taste: Castle and Key, Whiskey Thief, or another hidden gem, depending on availability and your schedule. Any stop can change on the call: swap Willett for Bardstown Bourbon Company, move lunch, or trade a stop for one closer to your hotel. Every tour is private to your booked group, in a vehicle nobody else rides in.
Distillery tickets are included in custom tour pricing. Lunch and driver gratuity are the exceptions. If none of the six fits, our custom private bourbon tours start from a blank page, with the distilleries you name.
BourbonTown Tours has run 3,000+ private tours since 2012, with 691 five-star reviews.
Preston was wonderful. He shared some interesting facts and information along the way, as well as some great recommendations for the rest of our stay in Louisville. He planned the perfect itinerary for our day in bourbon country!
My group had a great experience with BourbonTown Tours from start to finish! From speaking and emailing with Ron to get our transportation and itinerary ironed out, to spending the day with our driver, Reid.
Our coordination leading up to our tour was great, communication was great. Our driver Tommy was professional, knowledgeable, and punctual. Would absolutely recommend them and use them in the future.
Frequently asked questions
What do Kentucky bourbon tour packages cost?
Packages 1 to 5 run $425 per person for 2 guests down to $275 per person for 10 or more, plus 6% KY sales tax and a 3% booking fee. The Bourbon Weekend is two times the daily rate, with the same tax and fee. Groups over 14 are quoted on the call. A full guide to Kentucky bourbon tour costs breaks the rate down by group size.
Can I change the stops in a package?
Yes. Every package is a starting point for a custom tour, and any stop can change on the planning call. Custom tours typically run three stops, and we can add or subtract on your planning call. Name the package you like, tell us what you would swap, and the quote comes back with your version of the day, at the same per-person rate for your headcount.
Do bourbon tour packages include lunch?
Every package includes a lunch table we book and confirm, and the meal itself goes on your tab at the restaurant. Where lunch falls depends on the package: on the Buffalo Trace Day the tour slot decides it, and on Bourbon and Thoroughbreds it follows the morning farm visit. Driver gratuity also stays with your group, and you can move lunch on the planning call.
Is there a two-day bourbon tour package?
Yes, the Bourbon Weekend. Day 1 is the Bardstown Day at Maker's Mark, Heaven Hill and a Bardstown flex stop. Day 2 is the Buffalo Trace Day, or the Buffalo Trace Grounds Day if no tour ticket is available, and the Louisville Day can replace either day. The price is two times the daily rate, plus 6% KY sales tax and a 3% booking fee, with pickup at your hotel or door each morning.
Do you have Bardstown bourbon tour packages?
Yes. The Bardstown Day visits Maker's Mark in Loretto and Heaven Hill, then a flex stop such as Bardstown Bourbon Company or Willett, with about two hours at Maker's Mark and the in-town stops a short drive apart. It runs $425 per person for 2 guests down to $275 per person for 10 or more, plus 6% KY sales tax and a 3% booking fee, and it is also day one of the Bourbon Weekend.
Is there a Louisville bourbon tour package?
Yes, the Louisville Day. It visits three of Old Forester, Angel's Envy, Rabbit Hole and the Evan Williams Bourbon Experience, all downtown, so the group spends almost no time in the vehicle. Rabbit Hole is closed Sunday and Monday (and Tuesdays in January and February), so early-week days use the other three. It runs $425 per person for 2 guests down to $275 per person for 10 or more, plus 6% KY sales tax and a 3% booking fee.
